We leave Detroit for Pittsburgh We arrived at JD’s aforementioned Aunt and uncle’s(Babe and Phil) house. We had a huge roast beef dinner beforehand. The dinner table was overflowing because the O’Hara had 15 children. The dessert cake was decorated with The Babe and our names on the cake.

Four of JD’s cousins went to the game with us some local hemophiliacs at the gate. Some of the concession employees were on strike, out front, protesting unfair labor practices. Because of that no beer was sold at the game. Inside, we had free tickets and access to the field again. Marc presented Phil Garner with the Hemophiliac certificate. Ran into Dave Parker in a hallway, a very large man!

The Pirates destroyed the hapless Cubs(10-34 record) 16-3 before a sparse crowd of 6437. Funfacts: Willie Stargell(in an injury plagued year) had 3 hits and scored 2 runs. It turns out they were the only 2 runs he scored all year! The Pirates rapped out 19 hits, but no home runs.

We returned to the O’Hara’s abode and taking turns with everyone’s favorite dirty jokes.
