Indians 5, Red Sox 2
We leave Long Island for Boston and beloved Fenway Park. We met with Sox traveling secretary, Jack McCormick. They were expecting us! We received free parking, free tickets and access to the field. We meet players, Dave Stapleton, Gary Allenson and Rick Miller of the Sox and Mike Hargrove of the Indians. We went into the dugout and donned batting helmets for a photo op. Carm wore Rich Gedman’s helmet. That night Gedman hit his first major league home run!
The Indians won the contest 5-2 before a crowd of 16,896.Future Hall of Famer and former Indians pitcher, Dennis Eckersley, went the distance for Boston. Hargrove had 3 hits for the tribe.
Lebeau’s and Coz’s friend, Shenk, filled in the Red Sox box on The Babe.
