The Great American Journey For Hemophilia - 1981

Olympic Stadium

Montreal

May 26, 1981

Expos 4, Cardinals 3

We leave Boston and head to Montreal. We drive through 4 states(Mass, Conn, N.H. and Vermont) to the border. No problem with the border crossing. Arrive in Montreal. They were expecting us, we got free tickets again. Expos defeat Cards 4-1, highlighted by 3 pickoff plays. Charlie Lea with the win and Bill “Spaceman” Lee picks up a 2 inning save. Beer was sold in bottles. They had great smoked meat sandwiches.

Fun Fact: Jim Kaat extends his own major league record of sacrifice flies allowed by giving one up to Tim Raines in the 7th inning(it was on the scoreboard). After the game we drive to JD’s parents camp on Sydenham Lake, north of Kingston, Ontario.

Thursday, May 28, 1981 No game today. Kathy and Nancy, Carm’s and JD’s girlfriends drive up from Syracuse for the day. Spent the day boating and fishes. Went into town and saw the movie, Blazing Saddles(yet again).
