On Wednesday January 22nd , we will be hosting a one hour Zoom meeting with Denny McClain.
Denny McLain is a former Major League Baseball pitcher best known for being the last pitcher to win 30 games in a season, when he went 31-6 for the 1968 Detroit Tigers. His baseball accomplishments include two Cy Young awards, as the best pitcher in the American League, as well as a league MVP trophy. His 1968 Tigers team became World Champions by defeating the National League’s St. Louis Cardinals in the 1968 World Series.
In addition to his on-field accomplishments, McLain is known for his outspoken comments on a variety of topics, as well as various legal troubles he’s experienced during his lifetime.
During his post-playing career, McLain has hosted various radio and television talk shows and has written a monthly column and blog. He’s also an accomplished organ player. McLain’s autobiography is entitled, I Told You I Wasn’t Perfect, which describes his life and times and serves as a cautionary tale.
