Indians 7, Yankees 2
We drive all night and arrive at Carm’s aunt and uncle’s(Corrine and Lou) in Akron, Ohio at 6:30. After a quick nap and breakfast we are off to Cleveland for a game not on the itinerary because we are meeting JD’s parents(Doc and Dottie) , his brother ,Tom, and his aunt and uncle (Babe and Phil O’Hara). Yanks win a 1-0 contest. We stop for drinks afterwards. We get in a lively baseball discussion. I answer Uncle Phil’s trivia question about Luke Appling’s nickname (Old Aches and Pains) correctly.
We head back to Akron to Uncle Lou’s for pizza and antipasto.
Sunday day game. We head up to Cleveland. We received free tickets once more. Only Marc and Carm(to take pictures) were allowed on the field. Marc presented the Hemophilia Certificate to Indians manager, Dave Garcia. Renowned opera singer, Rocco Scotti, sang a stirring rendition of the national anthem. For the third time on the trip, we watch the Yankees lose 7-2, and all 3 time, Rudy May, was the losing pitcher! Len Barker, just 2 weeks after his perfect game, tosses a completer game and lowers his ERA to 1.93 We head back to Akron where we are treated to are BBQ food fest and a boat ride. Next stop Detroit.
