Mets 13, Phillies 3

Christmas comes early for the boys. The Mets were expecting us! We met Jay Horowitz, the Mets public relations director. We get free tickets plus two more for our friends. But the best part was that we got to go on the field! The Mets opponent that day was the defending World Champion, Philadelphia Phillies.

The Phils were taking batting practice when we arrived. We had our picture taken with Mets outfielder, Joel Youngblood. The Mets routed the Phils 13-3 which included this oddity: Dave Kingman had a sacrifice bunt in the 1st inning and then hits a grand slam home run in the 2nd!

After the game, we returned to the parents of Coz in Wantagh, Long Island. Marc’s mom painted the Mets box on The Babe.
