Karen Bent

Director At-Large

I grew up in a baseball family.  I am a baseball granddaughter, daughter, niece, sibling, wife, and mom.  I was an adult before realizing that not every family’s dinner table conversation included something about baseball.

I was born in St Louis and moved to Colorado soon thereafter.  Return visits to St Louis always included getting to go to Cardinals games – Bob Gibson, Tim McCarver, Lou Brock, Orlando Cepeda, Curt Flood, …with Harry Caray announcing.

Summer days were spent playing baseball with siblings and neighbors on a narrow dirt road, where first and third base were about 18 feet across from each other and second base was about 200 feet from home plate.  The games required accurate directional hitting.  The evenings were spent listening to the Denver Bears on the radio.

I enjoy baseball in all forms – little league, sandlot, high school, college – and I am thrilled to have our own Major League team in town!  Win or lose (and lose and lose), I will root for the Rockies.
