Greg Petty

At-Large

A long time ago in a rural northwestern Illinois far, far away, a boy’s father suddenly died when the boy was 8 years old.  With the only TV baseball being the Game of the Week, the boy found a saving miracle when he stumbled on the Chicago Cubs radio broadcast at WGN 72O.  That cemented his unfortunate lifelong passion for the Cubs which was the only team he had watched in person with his Dad.

As he grew, Greg Petty loved the Cubs but appreciated the statistical and physical beauty of baseball even more.  His career took him to college administrative jobs in Colorado and mainly Illinois, and in retirement he is blessed to be near his family, playing bridge, teaching baseball and movie classes through DU OLLI, and being on the Board of RMSABR.  He loves baseball.
