The Rocky Mountain SABR Chapter will be hosting a Zoom call on Wednesday September 16th at 7pm MT with special guest Ron Shelton.
Ron Shelton is an acclaimed American screenwriter and director best known for creating some of Hollywood’s most iconic sports movies including the classic and fan favorite, Bull Durham.
Ron’s filmmaking is highly regarded for its naturalistic dialogue, sharp wit, and deep understanding of athlete subcultures.
Before filmmaking, he spent five years (1967–1971) as a minor league baseball infielder in the Baltimore Orioles organization, reaching the Triple-A level. He drew directly from his grueling minor league experiences to write and direct the 1988 classic Bull Durham. The film earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay
Ron will be discussing Bull Durham along with his other movies which include Cobb, Tin Cup and White Men Can’t Jump and will be taking questions from attendees.
