Attended Legacy High School in Broomfield. Was drafted by the Rockies in the 36th round of the 2014 MLB draft but did not sign and played college baseball at the University of Minnesota. In 2016, played collegiate summer baseball with the Hyannis Harbor Hawks of the Cape Cod League. Was again drafted by the Rockies, this time in the seventh round of the 2017 MLB draft and signed. Began his career with the rookie–level Grand Junction Rockies. Made his MLB debut in 2021. Was amongst the best Rockies relievers in his rookie campaign, posting an ERA of 3.38 in 47 games. Underwent Tommy John Surgery before the start of the 2023 season and didn’t return to action until August 2024. Currently pitching for the Rox AAA affiliate, Albuquerque.

Ralph Glaze

Birth Place : Denver

MLB Debut : May 24, 2006

Born in Denver in 1881 – five years after Colorado became a state. Family came from Ohio during the gold rush in 1840s. Father was a silver miner in Georgetown. He went to the Emerson Street School in Denver and then to State Preparatory School in Boulder, where the family lived in 1900. Played FB at CU in 1901. Transferred to and graduated Dartmouth College in 1906 where he was an All-American end. Debuted in the majors with the Boston Americans on May 24th of the same year. In 1907 put up an impressive ERA of 2.32 in 32 games. In his three years with Boston, was on the same staff as Cy Young, Joe Wood and Ed Cicotte. Outdueled Hall of Famer Rube Waddell in a game in August 1906. Later became the baseball coach and AD at Baylor University from 1910 to 1913 and University of Southern California in 1915.

2013 drafted in 1st rd by Cards (19 overall). 2019 led AL in games started with 34. 2020 led AL in K/BB ratio at 9.14. Went 2-1 in ’14 post season for Cards. Doubled in first MLB AB. 2019 Mariners opening day starter (1st time in 10 years Felix Hernandez didn’t start). Went 16-13 w/3.99 ERA that yr. Winning pitcher at Rocky Mtn HS of state champtioship team all 4 years in HS. All-American at Gonzaga. In ’13, won collee’s Joihn Olerud award for best two way player. Attended Rocky Mountain HS in Fort Collins where he was the winning pitcher in the High School state champtioship game. Selected by the Colorado Rockies in the 29th round of the 2010 amateur draft but did not sign. Attended Gonzaga University where he was an All-American. Chosen by the St. Louis Cardinals – first round , 19th overall – in the 2013 draft. Was the first player from the first round of the previous year’s draft to reach the big leagues. Made his MLB debut on June 2014 as the Cards’ starting pitcher against the Rockies. Doubled in first MLB AB.Traded in 2017 to the Seattle Mariners in return for another prospect, OF Tyler O’Neill -finished 13-9, 4.00 in 29 starts and went 16-13, 3.99 the following season, tying for the American League lead with 34 starts. His father, Frank Gonzales, pitched and coached in the minor leagues.

All star 9X, 8 as a reliever which is 2nd most to Mariano Rivera all-time for reliever. Finished in top 6 in league CYA award voting 5X. Is Yankees career leader with 2.14 ERA. Pitched in 19 post season games with 2.87 ERA and 8 saves. Recorded the final out to clinch a division title, league championship or World Series title seven times during his career. Was 2nd player to record 300 saves. Born and still resides in Colorado Springs. Attended Wasson HS.

Played first base for the Boston Bees and Boston Braves from 1940 to 1942, in the days when the team was managed by Casey Stengel. Was age 20 when he made his debut. He and Johnny Sain were roommates in the minors and in the majors. In 1942, he, Sain, Johnny Pesky, Ted Williams and Joe Coleman were sent to Amherst College for naval training. Served in the United States Navy during World War II. After baseball he was a self-employed auctioneer for 50 years for a livestock auction.

Roy Halladay

Graduated from Arvada West High School in 1995 where he played baseball and basketball. Was a first team All-Conference and All-State selection for three years and named League and State MVP two years. Selected by the Blue Jays in the first round of the 1995 amateur draft, 17th overall. In 2003, won the AL Cy Young Award, going 22-7 (.759), pitching in 36 games and 266 innings with a 3.25 ERA. With Toronto, between 2003 and 2009, finished in the top 5 in Cy Young voting 5 times and was an All-Star 6 times. Signed as a free-agent with the Phillies before the 2010 season. Pitched the 20th perfect game in major league history on May 29 that year. In the same season. pitched a no-hitter in Game 1 of the NLDS against the Cincinnati Reds which was only the second no-hitter ever pitched in postseason history. After the season, he was a unanimous choice for the National League Cy Young Award. Old school style pitcher with a propensity to lead the league in complete games. After retirement, settled in Florida and was the pitching coach for Calvary Christian High School, which his son Braden attended, while also serving as a spring training instructor for the Phillies. Tragically killed on November 7, 2017 at the age of 40, when his recently acquired ICON A5 plane crashed into the Gulf of Mexico. His death was mourned universally in the baseball world, as he was remembered not just for his on-field excellence, but also for his devotion to charitable causes. His eldest son, Braden Halladay, was drafted by the Blue Jays in the 32nd round of the 2019 amateur draft, then headed to Penn State University. Elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2019 in his first year of eligibility.

Born in Fort Collins. Was the oldest of four children, all of whom helped with their parents’ pizza business and played baseball. After graduating from Fort Collins High School, joined the Navarro College baseball team as a shortstop and was transitioned into pitching, becoming the team’s ace. The Rockies selected him in the 24th round, 710th overall, of the 2016 MLB Draft. Signed with the team for a bonus of only $1,000 and was assigned to the Rookie-level Grand Junction Rockies of the Pioneer League. The Grand Junction Rockies were managed at the time by Frank Gonzales (father of MLB pitcher Marco Gonzales), who had coached Hammer when he was in high school.

Larry Harlow

Born in Colorado Springs but moved to Aztec, New Mexico at five years old. Attended Aztec High School where he played football and ran track while playing baseball in the summers. He attended Mesa Community College prior to signing with the Baltimore Orioles as an amateur free agent in August 1970.Played parts of four seasons with the Orioles before being traded to the California Angels in June 1979. Most of Harlow’s career highs came during the 1978 season with Baltimore when he scored 67 runs, recorded 112 hits, and 14 stolen bases. Made the only pitching appearance in his MLB playing career in a one-sided 24–10 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays at Exhibition Stadium on June 26, 1978. The highlight of Harlow’s career was in Game 3 of the 1979 American League Championship Series against his former team with his walk-off double to left field off Don Stanhouse scoring Brian Downing from second base in the ninth inning of a 4–3 win that prevented the Angels from being swept by the Orioles. Following his Major League career, played one season in Japan for the Yakult Swallows in 1982. And in 1989, played for the Fort Myers Sun Sox of the Senior Professional Baseball Association. He hit .307 and stole 10 bases in 67 games. In 1990, he again played for Fort Myers and batted .219 in 22 games when the league folded.

In his rookie season of 1929, led the league w/ 52 doubles. This remains the all-time major league rookie record by a wide margin and was Dodgers all-time franchise record until 2023, when it was broken by Freddie Freeman. That season, batted .328 with 206 hits, leading team with 24 HR, 127 runs and OPS of .917. One of four Dodgers players to ever finish a season with that many hits and runs. All time MLB single season leader in 2B, R, BA, OPS for a CO born player; Set a Dodgers rookie record for most leadoff HRs in season, a record that was not matched until 2015 by Joc Pederson; In ’32, hit six pinch-hit home runs, setting a major league record that stood for 68 years (Dave Hansen 2000). Career as a pinch-hitter, 21-70 with 8 HRs and 25 RBI.Had only 176Ks in 3,102 career MLB at-bats. In 2005 he was elected to the PCL Hall of Fame. Was 27 during his rookie season. Career was cut short by a leg injury.

His 16 triples in 1944 are the most ever in a single season by a CO born player. He also led the majors in triples in 1943. Played on three pennant winners (NYY) , in 1943, 1947 and 1949.
